Superman Sequel May Start Shooting Next Year

Even though Kevin Spacey has spent most of the past few years in London, managing the Old Vic theater, he's contractually obligated to make at least one more movie-- the Superman Returns sequel that is seemingly constantly on the brink of being made. If a recent article about Spacey in London's Independent newspaper is to be believed, he may be leaving London for a L.A. soundstage sooner than anyone expected.

Soon after quoting Spacey on his lack of love for movies these days, the article says "That may not go down so well with the producers of the follow-up to Superman Returns, who will be paying him big bucks to reprise his role as Lex Luthor next year. " Next year? When we don't even know if Bryan Singer will be able to get the thing made? It's entirely possible the Independent has their facts, wrong-- they're a London newspaper, after all, not a trade publication--but maybe Spacey slipped them some info the rest of us haven't heard about yet. If this tidbit gets reported enough there may have to be some official statements either confirming or denying; until then, it'll just be a fun rumor to debate.

    Solomon Grundy Would be the "big zombie guy" and thats a terrible idea for a movie, to thin a plot line, go with the plot from supermans dead, luthor unearths doomsday to kill superman, superman stops him by killing them both, then reawakens to find luthor has cloned him....thats a movie worth making

    I didn't particularly like Spacey for the Lex Luthor character... but they should have a second villian & the movie SHOULD be MORE action-packed!!!!

    We could still have Lex Luther but I would rather see a villain like the big zombie guy, i can't remember what he is called but I would like to see big fights through a BRIGHT city, not dull gloomy city in Superman Returns. They should have grasped the fact that everybody wants to the superman gracefully and easily flying through a city, instead they done at night etc.

    Back to the topic at hand, keep Luther but I want to see more Superman and more of a new villain never seen before and please make it realistic if it is CGI, hopefully not CGI, take tips and hints from 'The Dark Knight'.

    Well i thought that this last Superman was done well. I am getting tired of seeing Lex Luthor as a plot, and I really dont think that Spacey was all the great for the part.

    I don't know if I agree w/ the criticism of Spacey by anyone. He was the only thing good about the first Superman, and the only thing even close to a reason for making a sequel. Not liking the so-called movies that tend to flood today's box office doesn't make him less kick-ass while acting.
