Blindness I felt like I was watching a social experiment rather than a movie. No real rhyme or reason, things just happen and we are there to see how people react. It's the plot of what individuals do once rules are taken away, this time blindness is the catalyst. fb3434532 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua I had really hoped to simply take the kids to a movie and be entertained by cute little talking dogs but instead found myself bowled over by Thoughts. Underdog didn't have this effect on me... I was blown away between what felt to me like mountains of racist stereotypes & knowing that what I just witnessed will likely spur numerous of chihuahua puppy surprise presents that to the disappointment of their new "owners" will in a short period of time turn out to be troublesome pests instead of humans in tiny little adorable doggie bodies. fb1175650920 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist This movie is so amazingly good. It's funny and poignant at the same time, and it makes me want to move to New York City immediately. Really loved this movie :) fb615788402 Oct 6, 2008
Fireproof A playbook of predictable cliches, void of realism or emotional power. Disappointing, disparaging, and dimwitted. At least it'™s heart is in the right place. pjohnston8041 Oct 5, 2008
Blindness Profoundly thought provoking movie. It is so complex you could study it for a semester in school just to try and understand all of the angles and topics it comments on.It shows how the government might irresponsibly handle a tradegy this pantemic and all encompassing. The horrible conditions people might be forced to live in and how animalistic our nature can become to adapt and survive in a new world. This movie was in your face and graphic, but it worked because it had to be made that way to get it's topics across. Julianne Moore's character was the only one who could see the way the world and humans had regressed and how depraved they ended up becoming, but she also represented our "humanity". She was hope, salvation, all encompassing love, vengeance, and so much more. She anchored the movie and made it how wonderfully striking. The ending was interesting as well. I really enjoyed it. If you like movies that really make you think in a complex fashion, then go see this movie. fb22903763 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua When i first started to hear about this movie i thought ....Seriously?!?...but then i started seeing some clips and interviews with cast members and i thought...well it seems kinda funny i wouldnt mind taking kids to it. Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Everything I liked about "Juno" (Michael Cera and great Soundtrack), comedy of Superbad, and all the elements or a classic John Hughes film. fb7722951 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist The movie had some genuinely funny moments ("I love you so much it's retarded"), but overall it was pretty cliched and predictable. Michael Cera was adorable, as always, although the fact that he constantly plays the same character is getting a bit tired -- you know exactly what to expect from him all the time. Kat Dennings was also cute (not to mention gorgeous), but it wasn't enough to bring the movie to the level it could have/should have reached. Alexis Dziena is extremely irritating, perhaps even more than she was in Fool's Gold. And does anyone in their right mind actually think she's prettier than Kat Dennings, in spite of the fact that the movie tries to beat this idea over your head? Also, despite the title, the soundtrack (although good) didn't really enhance the movie -- it was just pleasant background noise; contrast this to another Michael Cera film, Juno, in which the soundtrack fit the film perfectly and I felt really contributed to the entertainment level and emotional experience of the movie. Not an awful film, and better than some teen-driven RomComs, but not really worth a $7 (or more) admission price. Wait for the DVD and rent it. fb51800212 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua Petit film qui sera vraiement apprecie par les jeunes enfants, pour ma part apres la premiere heure j'ai commence a somnole legerement. fb720911968 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Very good movie. Really cute. It was funny and touching. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone. It leaves you just feeling good after. fb29001757 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist First of all, the movie was altogether fabulous. In my mind it accomplished two things simultaneously: to perfectly simulate the feeling of falling in love, and to give a top class teen comedy. Central to the first, obviously, is how they approach Nick and Norah's relationship. There are so many times throughout when you want to yell at the screen "what the hell are you doing just be with each other dammit". Frankly I was mere inches away from literally doing this... had I been alone at home I assure you I would have not held back. Everything about it is completely fantastic and feeds the hopeless romantic in me. However, not to be left behind, the supporting roles were very good as well. Nick's bandmates in particular are wonderful to follow around. In between the heartfelt moments of exchanges between Nick and Norah (whether good or bad), Nick's bandmates always manage to center you again with a bit of laughter. This combination pulls you through the entire adventure and always leaves you wanting more on both sides. It finally leaves you on a simple, short note; which somehow seems the perfect ending. Some things are resolved, but the best thing the movie does is it allows you to fill in the missing touches yourself; as love, friendship, and your favorite song hold different forms for different people. Rather than simulate things this for one small niche of people, it's left open ended so everyone just feels like they just fell in love in just one night. fb13757202 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua pretty funny...kinda sad...very heartwarming! makes you want to hug every four legged anaimal around! fb581935694 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist When looking at Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, one can't but help notice that lead Michael Cera is yet again playing a vulnerable character in a teen comedy. Now this is certainly not a terrible thing, as Juno and Superbad were amongst the best films of 2007, let alone the best of their respected genres. The big question was, can Michael Cera put on another dazziling performance even though the audience sort of already knows what to expect? And on a further note, can a movies heavily buzzed about soundtrack draw too much attention to itself and tarnish the films quality? We'll, Cera does put on another solid performance, and the music flowed fluidly with the tone of the picture. The film unfolds as Nick (Michael Cera) being depressed and regretful over his past relationship with Tris (Alexis Dziena). Expectedly, Tris dumped Nick, showing Nick's weak spirit in the beginning of the film. Norah (Kat Dennings) is first introduced as a girl with deep family issues, with Tris constantly putting her down because of her father's successful music producing history. However, we meet a couple of interesting characters throughout. Nick's gay band partners provide some laughs and Norah's drunk best friend Caroline (Ari Graynor) represented the best comedic element of the movie, though director Peter Sollett decided to go overboard and it progressively grew old and tired. When the leads run into each other at Nick's band's concert, Norah takes an immediate liking to the vulnerable Nick, and before you know it they're bound to their own adventure as they try to find the band "Wheres Fluffy?" and fight off their ex partners. At a risk of under-selling the film, Nick and Norah is really a teen romance tale that plays by the numbers, dressed in wonderful music and cloaked in the beautiful city of Manhattan. If you couldn't make it to the theater this week, you didn't miss too much. Nick and Norah is extremely predictable, making it hard to root for a story that's already figured out. Then again, the two leads are wonderful and put on stellar performances. Last time we saw Kat Dennings was in The 40 Year Old Virgin playing Katherine Kenner's amusing and problematic daughter. I'd like to see her around more, as she provided a unique touch to the film, though Cera provided his regular stuff as well. Furthermore Nick and Norah is short on memorable scenes and phrases. In my experience, the funny scenes weren't THAT funny and dove out of consciousness when leaving the theater. However, there are two scenes that have indeed stuck with me and I won't dare spoil them here for you. Despite heavy criticism, Nick and Norah should be seen. It's a magical tale between two teens who've had similar problems without ever really knowing. The formulaic plot structure and overused comedic elements might bog the film down but this teen romance has enough wit and solid performances to overcome those things and triumph over the cliche segments. tomgatt Sep 12, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Funny parts were lame. Storyline was subpar. Where's Fluffy? is the worst name for a made up band. Cera needs to make a Superbad 2. Enrique250119133 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Not the most original movie, yet most movies these days are pretty much paint-by-numbers. A movie needs engaging characters and clever dialouge to capture my interest, and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist does just that. While following the predictable boy meets girl format, I still enjoyed the quiet chemistry between Michael Cera and Kat Dennings. fb1252513776 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Well, my excitement for this movie was not justified. It was ok, but only ok. Another movie where you get hammered over the head by the fact that the characters are supposed to be so hip. I wish I would have just waited instead of heading to the theater. fb20926914 Jul 31, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist I thought this was a good movie. It was pretty entertaining. It is one of those movies that every teenager and young adult should see. Eric13231872 Aug 8, 2008
Flash of Genius I wasn;t interested...and a friend forced me to see it because I had been a bad boy....and I really really enjoyed it! Really good story and acting! fb573750994 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist This is fantastic!!! There is nothing else to say for this movie. It has everything - the romances, the twit getting abandoned by the river, Jesus and pantsless altar boys, music, drunk chicks, and a really nasty piece of gum. (You have to watch this yourself to understand the gum.) ScrabbleMaster Jun 9, 2008
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People Despite the promise of having Simon Pegg and Jeff Bridges here, the movie can't escape the fact that it is poorly written. It just isn't very funny and when it tries to be it relies too much on gross out humor and when it tries to be romantic it falls into the normal cliches. Pegg tries his best to make something out of nothing but it just doesn't work and the movie just kept going on and on for far too long. fb42200485 Oct 6, 2008
An American Carol Not horrible but i was expected slightly more humor, not just the same Airplane jokes over and over that some how always went on too long fb29900384 Oct 6, 2008
An American Carol The theater was filled with laughter. Well done! I love this type of humor and and any time someone can take a shot at Michael Moore, I'm for it. ChickenWhisperer1047 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist The movie is not particularly humorous or insightful, but it's fun to watch Cera and Dennings casually do their thing as a pair of indie hipsters falling in love over the course of a night bouncing around Manhattan. fb771985108 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist The first half of the movie was pretty boring but it picked up near the end. It had a decent love story behind it and it had some nice acting. I really liked Kat Dennings character and she was the best part of the experience. An okay movie that is helping advance Micheal Cera's star power. fb763971662 Oct 5, 2008
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People The big mistake of this movie is that it makes the main character so unlikeable in the beginning that you don't care about him for the rest of it. You don't understand why he doesn't get fired in this cut throat world of entertainment publishing except that it serves the plot. It did make me laugh at times but too few and far in-between. fb832540013 Oct 6, 2008
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People I really enjoyed this..not only does it have one of the best titles ever but its consistently funny and entertaining throughout. Nice to see a good role for Jeff Bridges again as well, also there seemed to be at least 3-4 big lebowski references which were pretty cool. simon pegg=genius fb59507806 Oct 6, 2008
Blindness I still don't know what to really make of this movie. It was not pleasant to watch, but it wasn't supposed to be. I think one of the important parts of the film is that, while we can keep in mind that it's "just a movie", you can be sure that similar circumstances are happening to groups of people all over the world in war zones, famines, etc. where large numbers of people are forced to co-exist due to terrible circumstances. It was also interesting because the heroism in the movie was realistic. Moore's character was not a saintly figure, willing to fight off egually hungry people so her and her group could eat, rather then sharing the large amount of food she had found. Also, the ending, which may seem typical and optomistic, can also be seen as somewhat cruel and rflective. While no longer vicitimized by their disease, these people must now reflect on all the things they did to survive, while trying to re-adjust to what once was their normal lives. Overall the movie was good, but I could really have done with a much shorter and more suggestive-rather-than-filmed rape scene. I believe it got it's point across, and then just became incredibly unbearable. I believe it was important because it shows how women in situations like these are the most exploited of all, but it could have been shorter. fb508815932 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Can Michael Cera do no wrong? The kid is just so charming and likeable you can't help but fall in love with him every time he's on screen. This film was just dripping with heart, it felt like a familiar hug on a lonely night. You knew where it was headed from scene one but Nick, Nora and their gaggle of gays and using ex's made my heart smile. fb710550383 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist There was a lot of long pauses and uncomfortable moments but all in all, it was ok. It's worth renting. fb1074370187 Oct 6, 2008
Blindness I wasn't that crazy about the book and I was equally not crazy about the movie. Strong performances, but the story just wasn't what I expected or wanted it to be. fb1486321653 Sep 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist "I don't want to be the goodie bag at your pity party'"! Loved this movie! The soundtrack was awesome! The characters were excellent, especially The Jerk-offs aka Fist full of Asses. Rubster33 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua Very funny and cute tale of a spoiled Chihuahua who discovers her roots. Animal lovers will eat it up! tbhamdg Jun 10, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist This movie was much better than the critics are giving it credit for. I thought it was really sweet. Ah to be 17 and running loose in NYC without a care in the world or any laws to hold you back (aparently). My one complaint, has anyone ever found free street parking directly infront of their destination that fast or frequently EVER? But regardless the movie was cute, funny and at times completely disgusting. All good things. The whole Where's Fluffy plot line was awesome. NYC needs more secret scavenger hunts. fb550719930 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist Definitely better than I was expecting. I thought it was going to be the kind of movie who's only purpose is to say, "Look how cool we are. We like music most people have never heard of. We're so edgy." But it was actually a very funny and smart movie. A lot of their conversations felt very real. Plus that drunk girl was hilarious. weavemyway Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist my insides want to give it 5 stars, but i can't bring myself to do it. i enjoyed the movie an enormous amount, but there are scenes that just didn't make sense sometimes, and i wish some parts were given more time. also i spent a lot of time with a girl like Alexis Dziena's character, and i'm shocked that i spent my time with such a bitch. haha, but really everyone should see it, and have a great time chilid Oct 6, 2008
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People cute but far from anyones best. simon pegg is coming along nicely in hollywood though. nice performance by jeff bridges too Melty4 Oct 6, 2008
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist This movie is actually better than the commercials make it. A lot of the drama from high school that you're happy you're not a part of. You should go watch it - it's not that bad. fb29803239 Oct 6, 2008
Blindness now please don't get offended but this was either a brutal rape movie, a drama with heart, or a laugh out loud comedy. just really lousy editing and story pacing made this one hard to go along with. great shower scene though Melty4 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua I saw this flick with the family.Totally geared for all doglovers and audiences of all ages.Great family movie.IT has action,a good story line.lots of big name stars. No vulgarity, nudity or profane language.A Must see/Rent/buy!!!!!I was pleasantly surprised! fb1016374024 Oct 6, 2008
Nights in Rodanthe Ok this was a good film until they got to the ending...*SPOILER* Yet another friggin Richard Gere movie in which one of the lover's DIES! fb645038431 Sep 30, 2008
Eagle Eye Excellent movie. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Great psycological thriller. Really makes you think of your everyday life and how much the government really knows. fb520216661 Oct 6, 2008
Beverly Hills Chihuahua Popular opinion prior to the release of Beverly Hills Chihuahua was that it was going to be ridiculously bad, sure to be a "stoner classic" according to New York Magazine. Now that it's been released, New York Magazine's predictions may have been a little bit hasty, but it is ridiculously bad -- although perhaps not for the reasons you've been expecting. What's so offensive about Beverly Hills Chihuahua is how visible the seams are. You can see the rough patchwork where bits and pieces of better movies and tried-and-true cliches have been haphazardly sewn together. The movie is about Chloe, a pampered chihuahua who is taken on a spur-of-the-moment trip to Mexico and gets lost. Meanwhile, the landscaper's pet chihuahua Papi (who is in love with Chloe by virtue of the fact that they are the same breed of dog) sets out on a less-than-heroic mission to find her. It's hard to not to think about Homeward Bound with Chloe's quest to return to California. And then there's just the whole... obligatory nature of it all. Nothing new is presented in the movie at all -- every action has been seen a hundred times over. Will she make friends with the gruff old German shepherd that has taken to helping her escape from numerous close calls? Will she find her way back to California before her owner finds out that she was ever gone? Will she inexplicably fall in love with Papi without any reason for doing so at all? Of course, of course, of course. There is also a subplot about a dog who has lost his sense of smell... should we consider this an homage to Lady & the Tramp or thievery? And then there's the juvenile racial stereotyping throughout the film. Papi is constantly spouting authentically Mexican phrases such as "Hold the tacos!" Am I to believe that all Mexicans speak in silly phrases like that? I'd like to see a movie where an American says something like, "Hold the cheeseburgers!" Or how about, before getting into a fight, "Don't make me go all baseball and apple pie on you, man!" Isn't superficiality fun? I know what you're going to say: it's a children's movie, so stop taking it so seriously! There are a lot of great children's movies that aren't cobbled together from strips of formula the way that Beverly Hills Chihuahua is. This year's Wall-E is a great example, or, hell, look at Lady & the Tramp. Compared with these great films, movies that do something real and purposeful, BHC is shameful. BHC has no heart, no driving force, no reason for existing beyond cashing in on children's innate attraction to talking animals (my guess is that it all goes back to Eve and the talking snake...). Still, I guess there's got to be a yang for every yin, a karma crash to remind us that, all things being equal, there must remain some sense of order in the universe. Without evil, how will we know good, so on and so on. Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a glorified straight-to-video mess, agonizingly shallow and formulaic. Ergo, this movie exists for the sake or letting us know what makes the good movies great. Beverly Hills Chihuahua is the Sarah Palin of children's cinema: so fake and stupid that it makes most other kid's movies look like they belong in the Criterion collection. Yuck. fb20612873 Oct 6, 2008
An American Carol I would give this 0 stars, but Kelsey Grammer and Leslie Nielsen are in it. Regardless, they could not save this film. Calling it a film is even a stretch. All this film does is try to make Michael Moore look like an idiot which he can do by himself. The comedy is sub-par at best. Do not watch this film as it only makes you waste time and money! fb789503711 Oct 6, 2008
Fireproof Acting was considerably better than I expected from a Christian movie; a surprising lack of cheesiness; and some actually clever, well-written, comedic moments to boot. I liked it. Sue me. psalms144 Oct 5, 2008
Religulous This is a solid documentary. Though it's far from objective, I believe that most anyone who watches this will get something out of it (all but the most brainwashed theologically-opiated sheeple, that is). It's slickly edited, it's funny (even to a humorless guy like me), and it's as respectful as a film with a loaded agenda can be. The facts Maher presents are easily checkable (for the skeptics), and the film is thoroughly digestible. metalnoir Oct 6, 2008
An American Carol Liberals beware - there is too much truth in the hilarious romp for you to handle. Despite it's less than stellar production values, the movie is absolutely amazing due to its well-deserved mocking of douche bags like Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. The ACLU zombies and the 1968 musical interlude are the best part of the flick! scratonspeed Aug 22, 2008
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People Absolutely love Simon Pegg and I think that he just made this film good through his acting along - just a great comedy actor. sarahsays88 Oct 6, 2008
Religulous Creator of Borat, Larry Charles did it again! This movie was magnificent! Not a second was boring, thanks to my hero Bill Maher. I know this movie is going to upset believers and i really hope it does. Religion needs to be mocked cause its just sooo ridiculous! How can you be so sure that what you believe is right?
